After taking an opportunity to Musical Direct in Europe for 4 weeks, he stayed for 10 years. During this time he Music Directed Cats, Starlight Express, Jesus Christ Superstar, Bernstein Tribute and Hair as well as orchestrating and conducting many concerts and galas all over Europe.
He also composed a critically acclaimed contemporary version of the opera Carmen (Rock Carmen) which toured Europe for 6 months.
Martyn was invited to London to conduct Starlight Express and the world premiere of Saturday Night Fever on the West End. He also returned to the Royal Academy as an adjunct Professor. He was awarded the Associate of the Academy (ARAM) for his work there and contribution to the music profession.
After this he moved to New York to Music Direct the Broadway version of Saturday Night Fever.
Martyn is now based in New York, music directing and conducting in town and all over the world from rock bands to Symphony Orchestras. Theater credits include School Of Rock, Saturday Night Fever, Mamma Mia, Nine To Five, Tarzan, Dirty Dancing and Trip Of Love in Japan. He also develops new works for theater and dance companies through workshops and the New York Theater Festival. Martyn has an ongoing commitment to music education by collaborating with children's theater organizations such as The Brooklyn Children's Theater and The Tree House Shakers. Martyn also partners with IMN studios in Los Angeles where he composes music for Movies, and visual media. Most recently he orchestrated and conducted over 30 symphony orchestras for the Roy Orbison Symphony Concert tour in Europe and the US.
